About us
Voltex Lighting was formed in 2001, when Voltex (Pty) Ltd acquired the Lascon range of luminaires. Voltex Lighting was therefore the first specialized division to be formed in what was previously a dedicated wholesale operation.
Voltex Lighting markets and distributes a complete range of commercial and industrial luminaires, but more importantly has established itself as a leading energy services company, using the latest energy saving technologies in electronic ballasts, lamps and lighting systems.
Complete projects during the 2006 calendar year saved approximately 30 megawatts in power when compared to conventional systems.
The company also designed and patented a new mine light for underground applications. Successfully installed in Anglo Platinum’s Amandelbult Mine, where over 30 000 incandescent lamps were replaced with the new VML 113 mine light. In addition to improved lighting levels other factors such as maintenance, shrinkage and breakages were taken into consideration. The underground energy saving in this mine amounted to 1, 8 megawatts which in rand terms equates to R2, 8 million per annum.
Energy programmes both in terms of product and systems are critical for South Africa going forward therefore we intend that Voltex Lighting continues to play a significant role in bringing the latest technologies to market.
